Trusted inputs, a safer season

General educational guidance. Follow the approved product label and competent authorities in Sudan.

Trust in agricultural inputs begins with knowing their source, having clear product information and being able to trace them from supplier to user. Buying from a known supplier, keeping purchase documents and checking product details help protect buyers’ rights and make verification easier if a concern arises.

Verify the supplier

Before purchasing, confirm the supplier’s name, address and contact details, and request clear information about the manufacturer or importer. When necessary, enquire about product registration or authorization with the competent authority, according to the product type and applicable requirements.

Avoid products of unknown origin or with unclear information. Do not rely on price or verbal promises alone when making a purchase.

Keep the invoice and batch details

An invoice is an important record of purchase and a basis for follow-up with the supplier. Ensure it includes the supplier’s name, purchase date, product name, quantity and value.

Also retain the Batch / Lot Number, photographs of the packaging and label, and production and expiry dates where applicable. These details help identify the product and support more accurate handling of complaints or enquiries.

Recognize concerns that need checking

Damaged packaging, signs of tampering or leakage, missing essential details or differences between packaging and invoice information may warrant further enquiry before use.

These observations alone do not prove that a product is counterfeit, and intact packaging does not guarantee authenticity. Final verification requires the competent authority and may involve technical testing.

If you suspect a product

Stop using the suspect product until you receive guidance from the competent authority, and retain its packaging and purchase documents. To assist review, prepare:

Contact the supplier and relevant regulator, and avoid circulating unverified accusations or conclusions.
